An Update On Recent Events

Sun, Jan 13, 2013

As a valued member of our extended family and a Memphis Invest client, we wanted to bring something to your attention and address it openly and in an upfront manner.

This past Friday, one of our local closing attorneys was indicted on a single count of fraud dating back to 2003.  Sharon K. Anderson was charged and will now have the opportunity to defend herself and her company as it relates to this charge.

It is worth noting that Memphis Invest was not in business in 2003 and this in no way relates to the Clothier family, Memphis Invest or any transactions that Memphis Invest has been a part of.  We met and began our professional relationship with Sharon K. Anderson in mid 2005.

I point this out because some will certainly work as hard as they can to confuse the market and tie Memphis Invest and the Clothier family to this event with rumor and innuendo made to look like fact.  Typically we take the high road when it comes to these rumors and innuendo and do not respond at all.  We are simply more interested in taking care of our clients, our employees, our vendors, and our tenants, than we are worrying about those that have little more to do than dedicate themselves to harming our company.

There will no dobut be some very questionable characters in our industry who attempt to slander Memphis Invest and tie this incident as closely as they can to our company.  As we stated above, this incident is alleged to have occurred in August of 2003, several years before Memphis Invest was formed and two years before Sharon K. Anderson conducted any business with the Clothiers personally.  More importantly for Sharon K. Anderson, she will have her opportunity to speak in a court of law.

We feel it is important at this time that our company continues to focus on what is best for our clients including continuing to develop additional closing attorney relationships in both Memphis and Dallas.  As many of you know, early 3rd quarter of 2012 we began introducing 4 additional closing attorneys to handle not only our closings, but also the closings for our clients if they chose to use them.  We felt that with our rapid growth over the past two years, adding additional attorneys made good business sense.  That process has gone very smooth and the feedback from you, our clients, has been nothing short of excellent in reference to the additional attorney options.  Therefore, this recent development has had no effect on our ability to conduct business or on our clients’ ability to close purchases.

We look forward to continuing to provide the exceptional level of customer service, on-going property management and value added benefits of investing in Memphis and Dallas property that you have come to expect with our family business.  If you have any questions you may always reach out to us personally.
